Important Update for BVI Companies: Expiration of 9 Month Extension for Filing Initial Annual Financial Returns
On Monday 23 June 2025, the BVI Financial Services Commission (FSC) issued an Industry Circular (here) reminding companies with a calendar year financial year that the 9 month extension period granted for filing annual returns will end on 30 June 2025. Accordingly, initial annual returns that were originally due by 30 September 2024 must be filed by 30 June 2025. See the original FSC Notice of 10 December, 2024 (here).
Similarly, companies whose fiscal or financial year is not a calendar year end that were, prior to the 9 month extension granted, required to make their initial filings on or after 1 October 2024, should be aware of the up-coming expiration of the 9 month extension to the time within which their initial filings must be made.
