Bio
Andrew Jowett is a Group Partner in the Corporate and Regulatory BVI practice groups and of the Jersey office at Appleby. Andrew has extensive experience in corporate, banking and finance, and capital markets transactions, with particular emphasis on clients in the mining, oil and gas, energy, and natural resources sectors.
Andrew’s corporate practice involves advising a range of clients from large blue chip listed companies to small private companies on multi-jurisdictional mergers & acquisitions, public takeovers, IPOs, private placements, corporate reorganisations, joint venture arrangements, continuations, voluntary liquidations, shareholder rights, corporate governance, and directors’ duties. Andrew’s banking and finance practice involves advising both large financial institutions and corporate borrower groups in relation to acquisition finance, asset finance, debt restructuring, security enforcement, insolvency, real estate finance, and project finance.
Andrew´s regulatory practice involves advising on fund formation, investment business and money services licensing, FinTech and blockchain start-ups and joint ventures, and initial coin offerings (ICOs).
Chambers Global 2020 listed recommendations from Andrew’s clients, who noted him as “very responsive and knowledgeable,” adding: “He gets the deal done, is practical and always finds solutions.” In 2019 they acknowledged Andrew´s strong corporate finance expertise and good transactional abilities. In 2018 they recognised his commercially mindedness and described him as having a “very pragmatic, business-driven and solution-oriented approach”. He was recognised by Chambers Global 2016 with clients describing him as “very professional, crisp in his delivery and a pleasure to deal with.” IFLR1000 notes Andrew as “highly regarded”.
Andrew was admitted in the British Virgin Islands in 2008 and admitted in England and Wales in 2006 (not practicing).
Andrew recently contributed the BVI chapter to the Chambers and Partners’ “Fintech 2018” guide.
