Appleby is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Marshall as Counsel in its Dispute Resolution team in the British Virgin Islands.

Dave joins two other recent recruits: Kara Benjamin who joined recently after successfully completing her training contract at Clifford Chance, and Akeya Herbert, a Citizen of the BVI, and the successful recipient of Appleby’s scholarship award.

Dave has over 13 years’ post qualification experience, 10 of which have been in the BVI undertaking a mixture of civil, commercial and insolvency litigation.  Joining Appleby from another international firm, he has been reunited with his former colleague, Fay O’Halloran, who also joined Appleby within the last year.

Dave said “I am delighted to have had the opportunity to join Appleby.  Appleby is well known in the market for the quality of its work, the quality of its team and for having a friendly and collegiate working environment, and I look forward to developing my own practice at Appleby.”

Appleby’s BVI based dispute resolution team now consists of three partners, two counsel and three associates, supplemented by a significant bench in Hong Kong which is led by partners Eliot Simpson and John McCarroll SC.

Andrew Willins KC, Appleby’s Practice Group Head for Dispute Resolution in the British Virgin Islands said of the recent appointments that “we are pleased to welcome each of Dave, Kara and Akeya to our growing Dispute Resolution team.  That we have seen significant growth over the past year is a reflection of the quality of the work we do, the lawyers we employ, and the collegiate atmosphere we encourage.  I am particularly proud of the fact that we have assembled an excellent team, which is genuinely diverse: 50% of our lawyers are of Caribbean heritage and a majority are women.”
