The Grand Court of the Cayman Islands has dismissed all claims brought against Walkers Dubai following a three-month trial in the Financial Services Division in Kuwait Ports Authority and others v Walkers (a firm) and Walkers (Dubai) Limited Liability Partnership (FSD 97 of 2021 (RPJ)).
The Hon. Justice Parker dismissed every claim brought against Walkers Dubai. All claims against Walkers’ Cayman Islands practice had been abandoned during the course of the trial. Notwithstanding that abandonment, Justice Parker observed that Walkers Cayman had played no material role in the relevant events and that, in any event, no case had been made out against it.
Appleby is pleased to have supported Walkers in the successful defence of the claims.
The Appleby team was led by Sebastian Said and Susan Fallan, and consisted of David Lewis-Hall, Daniel Coelho, Lisle Chase, Ellie Taylor and Kamarya James.
Ben Hubble KC of 4 New Square appeared as lead counsel for Walkers with Sebastian Said, supported by Rupert Coe of Three Stone Buildings.
