Susan is a Senior Associate within the Dispute Resolution Practice Group in the Cayman Islands. She has broad commercial litigation experience across a number of jurisdictions including corporate, contract and professional liability disputes. She has acted for a wide range of clients including governments, well-known professional services firms, global banks and other multi-national organisations.
Susan joined Appleby from Pinsent Masons where she spent almost 10 years working in their Litigation, Regulatory & Tax department. Prior to that, Susan spent several years working as part of the legal team for an Edinburgh headquartered global long-term savings and investment company.
- Successfully defending the Falkland Islands Government in a contractual interpretation and copyright infringement claim brought in the Supreme Court of the Falkland Islands, as well as on appeal to the Court of Appeal of the Falkland Islands.*
- Lead associate in successfully pursuing the preliminary issue of a significant claim over the termination of an IT subcontract in the Scottish Court of Session.*
- Successfully defending a Scottish based oil and gas exploration and development company in a contractual interpretation claim brought in the Commercial Court of the English High Court.*
- Advising a Scottish premium whisky company in a high value distribution agreement dispute involving parallel proceedings in the Scottish Court of Session and in Ecuador.*
