Mya holds a postgraduate diploma in Professional Legal Practice and Master of Science in Law, Business and Management from The University of Law, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Birmingham. She was with the firm as a Paralegal from 2023 to 2024, and also interned with the firm’s corporate service provider, Appleby Global Services (AGS).

Mya began her pupillage with Appleby in September 2024. In her first-year of the programme she completed three seats, rotating from the Corporate, Insurance and Dispute Resolution departments, where she was mentored by Matthew Ebbs-Brewer (Partner), Cathryn Minors (Counsel) and Jordan Knight (Counsel), respectively.

Mya is currently in her second year of Appleby’s legal trainee programme. She recently began her final seat, which is 12-months, in the Insurance department under the continued mentorship of Cathryn Minors.

“I am honoured to join the ranks of the distinguished members of the Bermuda Bar. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all who have guided me along this path and helped shape my knowledge over the years, leading me to this milestone moment. It has been a privilege to undertake my training at Appleby, where I gained invaluable experience and express my sincere appreciation to the exceptional lawyers who supported and challenged me throughout my pupillage. I look forward with great excitement to beginning my journey as a legal professional,” shared Mya.

Cathryn Minors commented, “Mya has consistently impressed us with her hard work, professionalism and pleasant manner. Mya always approaches every task with diligence and commitment and has proven herself to be a reliable and capable member of the team. It has been a genuine pleasure to work alongside Mya and I look forward to continuing to do so in the future. Congratulations to Mya on this well-deserved achievement.”

Matthew Ebbs-Brewer said, “It was a pleasure to have Mya as part of our team during a period of her pupilage. It was fantastic to have someone who was able to establish themselves, become such a valued member and leave a real impact in what is a relatively short space of time. The work can be exceptionally demanding, requiring working with high volumes of documents with the ability to apply significant attention to detail in what were often time pressured situations. If Mya continues to apply herself in this fashion, I am sure she will have a very bright future.”
