Appleby remains the only offshore law firm with a presence in all three Crown Dependencies and saw each of its Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey offices receive stand-out praise in Chambers’ latest UK instalment, including Band 1 rankings for its expertise across Corporate and Finance; Dispute Resolution; and Employment.

Commentary and feedback in this year’s guide includes the Isle of Man’s Corporate practice being described as “the largest and most dominant firm on the island by a reasonable margin”, while the office’s Dispute Resolution lawyers “possess excellent attention to detail and knowledge of the required legislation” and “superb commercial situational awareness”.

In Guernsey, the Dispute Resolution practice’s “client service has been nothing short of exemplary, with the team not only being extremely responsive but in fact highly proactive in making contact themselves”. Likewise, the Guernsey Corporate practice’s “service and capabilities are excellent”, displaying “a collaborative and commercial approach to their work”.

Industry sources praise the Jersey Corporate team for being “very strong technically, with good commercial awareness” and for providing “excellent service”, while the office’s Dispute Resolution team, which is described as “friendly, helpful and responsive all the time”, is noted for its work on fraud-related issues including asset tracing and freezing order applications.

Among those individually recognised, four Appleby partners are ranked in Band 1 for their respective practice areas: Mark Holligon, Dispute Resolution (Isle of Man); Caren Pegg, Employment (Isle of Man); Richard Sheldon, Employment (Guernsey); and Kyle Sutherland, Corporate & Finance (Isle of Man).
