Abdalaliyy (Abdal) Aumeer joined Appleby in December 2020 as a Pupil Barrister and after being called to the Bar in September 2021, joined Appleby’s Mauritius Dispute Resolution Practice as an Associate in October 2021.
Abdal appears as junior counsel in all the commercial litigation matters before the Supreme Court and has also appeared before the lower courts. He advises clients on regulatory disputes involving regulators such as the Gambling Regulatory Authority and the Financial Services Commission. He also assisted an investigation carried out under the FSC’s Enforcement Directorate for several funds located in Mauritius.
Abdal graduated from the University of Buckingham with a first class LLB (Honours) in 2017. He pursued a Master of Laws in International Tax Law at King’s College London in 2018. He completed his Bar Professional Training Course at City, University of London and was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in November 2019.
Abdal is a member of the Mauritius Bar Association and is fluent in both English and French.
