Discrimination law in Guernsey: The Same but Different
The Prevention of Discrimination (Guernsey) Ordinance 2022 (“Ordinance”) will come into force on 1 October 2023. The Ordinance means that, for the first time, Guernsey will have a comprehensive equality framework in place, making it unlawful to discriminate against a person on five new “protected grounds” - disability, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, and carer status.

Financial platforms and intermediation

Part IV of the LCF regulates financial intermediation services, including: the operation of peer to peer platforms; the operation of crowdfunding platforms; and the provision of alternative non-bank credit or finance intermediation.


Regulation of Financial Firm Business
The Lending, Credit and Finance (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law 2022, (LCF Law) came into effect 1 July 2023. Any businesses carrying out activities regulated by the LCF Law must now have a licence (unless certain exemptions apply).
