Andrew Harding joins from the Appleby Isle of Man office. Andrew specialises in the formation, restructuring and termination of investment funds and has experience in a wide variety of alternative investment structures including listed funds, open-ended investment companies, limited partnerships and protected cell companies. His practice also covers insurance and reinsurance, mergers and acquisitions and financial services.

Andrew commented: “I am excited to join the Guernsey team having spent 12 years in the Isle of Man office along with a period on secondment in Appleby’s Cayman office. I am delighted to join a growing team in Guernsey and build on the excellent reputation they have in the Funds, Corporate and Insurance fields.”

Advocate Richard Field has extensive experience acting for global financial institutions and joins Appleby after working in Guernsey for the last ten years. Richard specialises in corporate and commercial litigation, including banking, investment and funds litigation. He also advises on regulatory matters, including anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions and eGaming. As one of Guernsey’s leading data protection lawyers, he has advised and presented extensively on GDPR and its implementation locally, working closely with the States of Guernsey in the development of Guernsey’s new Data Protection Law.

Richard commented: “I’m proud to be joining Appleby and to be working with such a dynamic and energetic team. The firm’s reputation is first-class and I’m looking forward to being part of their flourishing litigation and regulatory practices.” Andrew, Richard and Richard join existing Guernsey Partners Jeremy Berchem, Anthony Williams and Alison MacKrill. Appleby offers a full suite of Corporate, Dispute Resolution and Regulatory legal services on the island.

Wendy Benjamin, Group Partner*, said: “We are delighted to welcome Andrew and Richard. This is a great boost to our established Guernsey team and it further strengthens our ability to offer a seamless, multi-jurisdictional service to clients from our unique Crown Dependency network.

Richard Sheldon’s promotion to Partner is justly deserved and testament to his hard work. Richard joined us from England in 2014. Since that time he has very quickly become a recognised expert in Employment law, GDPR and Regulatory work across the Channel Islands.

Together their combined wealth of experience and vast knowledge of Guernsey law is an invaluable asset, which enhances Appleby’s position in the offshore legal industry and in Guernsey.”
