John Wasty, Group Head of Dispute Resolution & Insolvency in Bermuda commented: “We are thrilled that two excellent young Bermudian lawyers have joined our growing and highly experienced team. In welcoming Sam and Jordan we add further depth to meet the ever-increasing needs of our clients. This expansion of our dispute resolution team reflects the ongoing support of our clients – local, international and referring firms – who continue to instruct us in a broad range of matters. We are, as always, highly appreciative of the continuing trust they place in us.”

Sam has practiced for more than four years in the Bermuda market. He has experience across the spectrum of commercial law with a particular focus on insolvency and restructuring, trusts and estates and contractual disputes. He is just as comfortable advising on cross-border matters as he is in local disputes. He appears regularly before Bermuda’s Supreme Court and tribunals and has been praised by Bermuda’s commercial judges for his able submissions.

Jordan was called to the Bermuda Bar in 2016 and his practice has gone from strength to strength. He brings to Appleby his particular experience in public law and employment matters. In addition Jordan has represented clients in the Supreme Court in a variety of commercial disputes including in commercial contract, mortgage enforcement, probate and estate, and property. He is also a member of the Medical Practice Conduct Board and the Bermuda Nursing Council which is a testament to his commitment to using his legal training to contribute to the community in Bermuda.

The strength of the Appleby Bermuda team lies in its ability to guide clients across the range of complex commercial and regulatory issues which characterise modern business practice in Bermuda while always maintaining the specialist knowledge base necessary to give targeted guidance on specific issues. The team has the expertise to quickly and effectively respond to clients’ demands. We assert and defend our clients’ positions vigorously and efficiently and take pride in responding thoughtfully and commercially.

The team comprises: Partner John Wasty, Senior Counsel John Riihiluoma, Counsel Steven White, Senior Associate Hannah Tildesley, Senior Associate Lalita Vaswani, Associate Jessica Harris, Associate Sam Riihiluoma, Associate Jordan Knight and Paralegal Rachel York.
