From Monday 11 to Sunday 24 April between 1000 and 1600, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the world of bugs and discover a variety of unique and fascinating creatures at the Jersey Zoo’s Discovery Centre.

During the exhibit, visitors will have the opportunity to enter Appleby’s ‘It’s a Bug’s World at Jersey Zoo’ photo competition in order to win Durrell related prizes, which include a meercat and otter encounter, a bat encounter, a reptile and amphibian tour and two vouchers for the gift centre within Jersey Zoo.

To enter the competition, entrants should simply:

  • Post their best bug-handling photos
  • Tag @Appleby_Global (Instagram) (@Appleby LinkedIn) (@Appleby Facebook)
  • Add the hashtag #ApplebyDurrell

This special one-off exhibit is only available for two weeks, so the public is encouraged to visit over the Easter holiday.  Bookings are not required and entry is free for Durrell members.

Graeme Dick, Director of Durrell Operations, commented:

‘The aim of the Bug’s World exhibit is to connect people to nature in order to help conserve it. We’re excited because this is something new and something different for the zoo. This is a fun, family friendly event where visitors can expect to hold all kinds of exciting insects and learn about the bug world.’

James Gaudin, Appleby Jersey Managing Partner, commented:

‘Appleby is incredibly proud of our partnership with Durrell, which is now in its fifth year.  When the opportunity presented to sponsor “It’s a Bug’s World at Jersey Zoo” we knew this was going to be a fantastic exhibit and an incredible way to help children in Jersey understand more about these creatures and their ecosystems.  We hope lots of families visit the exhibit over the Easter holidays”
