Jackson was called to the Bar and sworn in before Justice Cheryl Richards KC on Wednesday March 27th amongst colleagues and family. Jackson’s admission was moved by Appleby Partner, Andrew Jackson.
Jackson was born and raised in the Cayman Islands and became the recipient of Appleby’s Legal Scholarship programme in 2018. He went on to join Appleby’s Articled Clerk Programme in 2022, undertaking an 18-month seat rotation, giving him hands on work experience across Appleby’s main practice areas including Corporate, Litigation, Property & Private Client & Trusts. Like many other Legal Scholarship recipients Jackson took advantage of Appleby’s legal internship programme and spent two summers shadowing lawyers in the Firm’s Corporate and Dispute Resolution practice groups.
Jackson graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in International Business before studying law at City, University of London, graduating with an LLB honours degree. Jackson proceeded to complete his Legal Practice Course also at City, University of London. Jackson is a member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association and is aiming to become a qualified STEP member, to join the global network of trust and estate professionals. He joins the Private Client & Trusts team as an Associate, specialising in providing tailored solutions for individuals, families and their advisers as well as businesses on offshore trust law.
Addressing the Court, Jackson said “Appleby has allowed me the opportunity to train and develop my skills as a practising Attorney and I have valued the ability to interact with some of the best Attorneys in the Cayman Islands across an array of specialist areas. I thank Appleby for giving me this opportunity as I recognise the privilege that comes with being an Officer of the Court”.
