Covid subsequently impacted these objectives, so the partnership changed tack and Appleby funded Sammy’s proposal to provide all Jersey senior schools with infrared digital thermometers.  It was considered an especially relevant time for schools to be able to check the temperature of students.  Five senior schools will take delivery of a digital thermometer next week with plans in place to issue to all 11 senior schools before the end of the year.

The community partnership is now in the midst of planning the roll out of blood pressure monitors and mental health awareness sessions, hosted by a qualified doctor.  It is hoped that this will be achieved in the first quarter of 2021.

Jersey Managing Partner James Gaudin visited Victoria College recently to present the first of the thermometers.  Victoria College place great emphasis on supporting the mental wellbeing of student and this year have appointed a Well Being Prefect: Ben Hart. James commented “We are both inspired and delighted to be working with Sammy to bring his ideas to life in Jersey.  We intend to recognise the interdependency of physical and mental wellbeing by this series of initiatives and are looking forward to working with Sammy on one of Appleby’s community partnerships in Jersey.”
