Clive Langley is a partner within the Corporate department. Clive has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law as well as international finance. He has particular expertise in advising on and structuring asset-financed transactions, regularly advising both lenders and borrowers on a wide range of matters. Prior to joining Appleby in 2005, he worked for the international law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges in their London and Silicon Valley offices.

Clive has spoken at Business Bermuda events (now Bermuda Business Development Agency) at the Harvard Club, New York on the topic of asset finance. He has also written articles for Legal Week, Financial Regulation International and Business Bermuda Nexus in respect of The Companies Amendment (No. 2) Act 2011 and aircraft and shipping. Clive also authored the Bermuda sections of the First Edition 2016 Aviation Finance from Practical Law. He co-wrote the Bermuda sections for Shipping Finance Ed.III, published by Euromoney Books.

Clive has been consistently ranked by Chambers Global since 2013, receiving plaudits for his excellent asset finance practice, particularly in relation to aircraft and ship financing work. In 2016 he was recognised for advising Pan Orient on its sale of a 50% stake in its Thai subsidiary to Sea Oil Energy. Sources continue to highlight him as "one of the firm's most promising younger lawyers." Clive is also consistently recommended by Legal 500 Caribbean and in IFLR1000 in both the Banking and Capital Markets categories. He has also been identified through independent research as being one of the world's leading aviation lawyers in Who's Who Legal:Aviation 2018. 

Clive is a member of the Bermuda Bar Association, Director of the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Board for the Bermuda International Shipping Association.
