Charles is an Associate in the Corporate team at Appleby, focusing on major sponsor-side work across the funds, fund financing, and corporate spectrum.
Prior to joining Appleby in August 2026, Charles has over 4.5 years post-qualification practice experience gained at major London and US firms (including Clifford Chance and Kirkland & Ellis), where his practice predominantly focused on fund finance.
Charles has experience acting sponsor and lender-side on complex, innovative, and multi-jurisdictional financing transactions, including subscription line, NAV (involving turnover, ECL, and pref arrangements), GP/Manager support, TopCo, hybrid, and co-investment facilities spanning all asset classes, to both closed and open-end fund vehicles.
Charles also has experience assisting with implementing more bespoke fund liquidity solutions, including TopCo private placements of notes, preferred equity/NAV hybrids, hybrid funding to continuation funds, umbrella facilities, more concentrated back-levered NAVs, and complex subscription line structures (involving rated note feeders and QB mechanics).
Charles is interested in all developing areas of corporate, finance, and fund finance practice, particularly CFOs, securitisation of subscription lines, GP-led secondaries financings, and ESG.

Admitted as a solicitor in the Senior Courts of England & Wales (March 2022).
- Undergraduate degree in Classics and History from Trinity College, University of Cambridge.
- Postgraduate degree in Ancient History (Ancient Greek History and Classical Greek Language) from University College London (UCL).
- Postgraduate degree (PGDip) in Law from BPP University, London.
- Postgraduate degree (PGDip) in Legal Practice from BPP University, London.
