Bio

Katie Blundy is a Senior Associate in the Corporate department of Appleby’s Bermuda office. She focuses her practice on corporate and commercial transactions, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings and capital markets transactions. She advises on the full spectrum of transactional matters, including public offerings, private placements, and corporate finance mandates.

In support of her transactional practice, Katie also provides guidance on key regulatory considerations that arise in corporate deals, including Bermuda economic substance considerations. She has extensive experience engaging  with the Bermuda regulators in connection with complex transactions and licensing matters.

Prior to joining Appleby, Katie practiced as a corporate and securities lawyer at a top tier law firm in Vancouver. She was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 2016. Katie is recognised as a ‘Leading Associate’ by Legal 500 Caribbean in the Regulatory and Compliance category.

  • EXCELERATE, Appleby Bermuda advises Excelerate on $1.055 billion acquisition;
  • ORGANON & CO, Appleby Bermuda advised Organon & Co on the acquisition, by way of merger under Bermuda law, of Dermavant Sciences Ltd.;
  • Appleby Bermuda advised in connection with the $13.3 billion take-private acquisition of Bermuda-based Triton International Limited (Triton) by Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P (BIP) through BIP’s subsidiary Brookfield Infrastructure Corporation (BIPC) and its institutional partners (Brookfield Infrastructure);
  • Appleby acted as special Bermuda counsel to the noteholders in connection with the acquisition by Connor, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure of a 49.9% minority interest in Bermuda Skyport Corporation Limited from Aecon Group Inc. (Aecon), the concessionaire for the L.F. Wade International Airport;
  • VIRGIN CRUISES INTERMEDIATE LIMITED, Appleby acted as special Bermuda counsel to Virgin Cruises Intermediate Limited and represented various Virgin Voyages affiliated companies in Bermuda (VV Group), in respect of a $550 million capital raise. The funding round was led by funds managed by the Private Equity Group of Ares Management (Ares), a global alternative investment manager, and also included additional capital from existing investors including Virgin Group and Bain Capital;
  • NORTHEDGE, Acted as Bermuda and Jersey counsel to private equity firm NorthEdge on its investment into Friend MTS, a leading global provider of video content security services;
  • ST ENERGY TRANSITION I LTD., Appleby acted as Bermuda counsel to ST Energy Transition I Ltd. (the “Company”) on its USD250 million ESG-related SPAC IPO on the New York Stock Exchange targeting energy transition and clean energy technology.

Qualifications & Education

Katie attended the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Law where she obtained a Juris Doctor with a business law concentration. She also earned a Bachelor of Engineering Science (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Western Ontario. Katie was called to the bar in British Columbia, Canada in 2016.
