The Appleby venture capital and technology teams in the Cayman Islands, led by Marsha Williamson and Peter Colegate, advised BigSur Energy on the closing of its Series B fundraising round.

The US$11.5 million round at a valuation of over US$90 million brings the company’s total capital raised to more than US$20 million. The funds will be deployed to drive expansion across the United States and prepare for expansion into Argentina later in 2026.

Operating from 14 sites across Texas and Louisiana, BigSur Energy transforms stranded or vented gas into a valuable power source for data centres powering Bitcoin mining. By decoupling from conventional distribution infrastructures, the company’s model enables the direct conversion of low-value stranded gas into high-value digital assets with low-cost electricity for powering high‑performance computing tasks.

The Appleby team also supported the BigSur team on its Series A funding round in summer 2025. Partner Dean Bennett, who leads the venture capital team, is a long-standing adviser to the founders of BigSur.

Latham & Watkins LLP represented BigSur Energy on the US legal aspects of the funding round.
