Rebecca is a Senior Associate within the BVI Corporate department, with particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, representing private equity firms, public and private companies in cross-border transactions and listings. Rebecca also advises on a broad range of corporate and financial matters, including financial services regulation, fund establishment, debt capital markets, restructurings and general corporate law. Rebecca is also a member of Appleby’s Tech and Innovation team, having advised entities working on blockchain, AI, FinTech and other emerging technologies on fundraises, mergers and acquisitions, as well as sitting on the BVI Financial Service Commission’s FinTech working group.
In 2019, Rebecca was listed in both IFLR1000 and Legal 500 as a ‘rising star’ and was nominated as a ‘Future Leader’ by BVI Finance. Rebecca was described in Legal 500 as “incredibly responsive, commercially minded and skilled in working through potential issues to arrive at solutions that work for all parties.”
Rebecca has contributed as an author to “Getting the Deal Through: Private Equity Transactions” and “Getting the Deal Through: Private Equity Fund Formation” (both for the British Virgin Islands) for 2019 and co-author to “Getting the Deal Through: IPOs” (England and Wales) for both 2016 and 2017 editions, and regularly contributes to other publications.
Prior to joining Appleby in August 2017, Rebecca was an associate in the Corporate team of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in London, with experience ranging from private equity to public company matters. Rebecca trained at Clifford Chance LLP in both the London and São Paulo offices, before qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales in September 2014.
