Avechi Chimara is an Associate in the Corporate department of Appleby’s Bermuda office.
Avechi has a broad capital markets and corporate practice. She regularly advises businesses on a range of corporate and commercial matters including the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and general corporate and commercial matters.
Avechi joined Appleby in September 2025. Prior to joining Appleby, Avechi practiced as a Corporate & Securities Associate with a corporate law firm in Toronto. She advised both publicly traded and privately held companies and concentrated her practice on private placements, was responsible for due diligence in relation to acquisition targets, venture capital investments and transactions within the renewable energy, mineral exploration and sensor technology sectors.

Qualifications & Education
Avechi holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, and a Honours Bachelors of Arts from the University of Toronto.
She has obtained the Osgoode Certificate in Canadian Securities Law and Practice.
Avechi was admitted to practice law in the Province of Ontario in 2021 and the State New York in 2025.
