Matthew Hollis-Smith is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution team at Appleby’s Bermuda office.
Matthew has represented clients in Bermuda’s Supreme Court and Magistrates’ Court on a wide range of matters including commercial contract disputes, credit recovery such as mortgage and other debt enforcement, bankruptcies, probate and estate disputes.
He also advises has experience working with local and international clients on cross-border insolvency matters and alternative dispute resolution in both civil and commercial practice areas, including mediation and arbitration. Prior to joining Appleby, Matthew practised at another Bermuda law firm.
He was called to the Bermuda Bar in February 2024.

In February 2024, Matthew was admitted to the Bermuda Bar.
Matthew completed his LLM and LPC at The University of Law and holds a GDL from City St George’s, University of London. Before that, he obtained a Master of Science in Chemistry from Queen Mary University of London.
