Karen Austin

Karen Austin is a Legal Manager in the Funds team of the Corporate department at Appleby’s Hong Kong office.

Karen specialises in investment funds and financial services regulatory matters. Her practice encompasses the formation, regulation and management of funds, as well as cryptocurrency transactions, licensing requirements and regulatory compliance. Beyond her focus on the structuring of investment funds, she provides legal support in the securities and virtual asset regimes, advising on trading, asset management, investment advisory and derivatives market activities.

Karen has advised on matters involving multiple jurisdictions, including Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, as well as offshore jurisdictions of Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. Her experience also includes broader corporate and finance matters.

Prior to joining Appleby, Karen worked at several international law firms. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
