Bio

Dave Marshall is a Counsel in Appleby’s Dispute Resolution department in the British Virgin Islands. Having practised in the Territory as a Barrister since 2015, Dave advises on a broad range of civil and commercial matters and has appeared before all courts in the Territory up to the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal. Dave’s practice encompasses areas including cross-border insolvency; director and shareholder disputes; contentious probate matters; fraud and asset-tracing; and injunctions. Prior to joining Appleby in January 2026, Dave practised in the litigation and dispute resolution department in another International Law Firm in the British Virgin Islands.

Work Highlights
  • Acting on behalf of BVI corporate defendants in an unlawful means conspiracy claim valued in excess of US$1 billion (SGS Universal Investment Holdings Limited & Ors v Domidias Limited, Merbau Synergy Limited & Ors).*
  • Acting on behalf of Carlos Ghosn (and others) in defence of a claim brought by Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. and Nissan Middle East FZE alleging breach of fiduciary duty, knowing receipt and unjust enrichment.*
  • Acting on behalf of defendants in a high-valued contentious probate matter involving members of the Qatari Royal Family.*
  • Acting on behalf of a crypto exchange in obtaining third party disclosure orders in the BVI in support of US proceedings valued at approximately US$40 billion, brought by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.*

Dave was admitted to practise as an Attorney-at-Law in Barbados in 2011 and as a Barrister in the British Virgin Islands in 2015.
