In the latest edition, Appleby has maintained its ranking, with clients in particular highlighting Appleby’s capability ‘to operate well in both English and Chinese’ and noted that the team is well regarded in the local market for the ‘high-quality and cost-effective’ advice the team is able to provide on corporate/commercial and finance matters requiring Bermuda, BVI and Cayman Islands law advice.

Asia Group Head and Hong Kong Partner, Judy Lee, and Hong Kong Partner, Fiona Chan, have also been recognised as ‘Leading Individuals’ and ‘Next Generation Partners’ respectively. Judy was acknowledged for her ‘very commercial and efficient’ style as a leader in the office and remains as one of the market leaders in relation to offshore listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Clients commented that “Judy Lee is a very safe pair of hands and provides a high standard of work”. In addition to Fiona’s broad-ranging financing practice (which includes work for lenders and borrowers across acquisition, asset and project financings), she was also commended as providing ‘excellent quality advice’ across a range of private client matters. Clients were impressed that Fiona ‘always makes herself available to resolve any problems or queries’.

The recent launch of Appleby’s corporate administration business, Appleby Global Services, was also highlighted for enabling the Hong Kong office to incorporate companies and providing a seamless service in support of the capital markets practice.

Hong Kong Managing Partner, Cameron Adderley, commented “These results further demonstrate the high level of expertise we have across our Asian offering and our dedication to providing the best possible service to our clients. I would like to congratulate Judy and Fiona on their individual recognition and would like to thank our clients for taking the time to provide such valuable feedback on our service”.
