Andrew Bolton is a consultant for the Dispute Resolution department across the Appleby Group. He specialises in contentious insolvency matters and commercial litigation, including fraud, asset recovery and professional negligence.
Andrew has been consistently ranked as a leading lawyer in various global directories for dispute resolution and insolvency and restructuring including Chambers Global, Legal 500 and IFLR1000. He continues to be recognised by Chambers Global as an 'Eminent Practitioner' for dispute resolution in the Cayman Islands, described as "very knowledgable and has seen it all". In 2018, he was described as a "top performer in the Cayman market". Sources in Chambers Global 2017 noted Andrew as being "very highly respected for his legal abilities, particularly with regard to insolvency proceedings." In Chambers Global 2016 and 2015, Andrew was recognised as a 'Leading Individual' in the same category. Additionally, the 2015 edition of International Who’s Who Legal – Asset Recovery described Andrew as "boasting an impressive practice."
Prior to joining Appleby in 1997, Andrew worked for Freshfields (now Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer) in London and Brussels for ten years, including a year on secondment to the Bank of England. He became a partner at Appleby in 1999 and now has overall responsibility for the firm’s Dispute Resolution practice in its various offices.
Andrew is a member of the Law Society of England & Wales, the Law Society of Cayman Islands and INSOL International.
