Bio
Nivedita. R. Patten is a Senior Associate in the Corporate/Dispute Resolution department, in Mauritius. She qualified as lawyer in the year 2011.
Prior to joining the firm in June 2023, she held the post of Senior District Magistrate in the Judiciary from 2020 to 2023, State Counsel at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions from 2013 to 2020 and in private practice from 2011 to 2013, where she had the opportunity to appear and also hear both civil and criminal matters.
She has also acquired experience in the banking and offshore sector for having worked in an Offshore Banking Institution in Mauritius from the year 2000 to 2009 and in an Offshore Management Company from 2002 to 2009, with exposure to different legislation relevant to the financial sector.
Nivedita has attended:
- a training at L’École nationale de la magistrature (ENM), in France on ‘la preuve pénale et le progrès scientifique’ dispensed jointly by ENM and ‘le pôle judiciaire de la gendarmerie nationale’ for the continued training of magistrates, ‘militaires de la gendarmerie nationale’ and also foreign counsels, in 2016 and
- a workshop on combating Human Trafficking and smuggling of migrant crimes held in Egypt in October 2018.
Nivedita is fully proficient in English and French.
