Appleby has a long history of contributing to the local community. At the heart of the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy in the Isle of Man, is a theme centred on youth, education and sport.
Set up in 2012, the Appleby Charitable Foundation has donated over GBP 80,000 to charitable causes on the island to date. Several Partners within the firm sit on the board, donating their time and expertise to review applications. In 2012, the firm partnered with the charity Junior Achievement to launch the Appleby Academy programme aimed at helping upper sixth form students in the Isle of Man develop key business skills, by offering a work placement within the firm.

The Responsible Business Awards were founded in 2017 and recognise public, private and third sector organisations who have demonstrated a strong commitment to their CSR. The awards also aim to congratulate leaders, employees and individuals who champion equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community.
