Appleby was commended for its responsive and practical advice with one client commenting “They are accessible and responsive, and can provide practical advice”. Legal 500 also highlighted Appleby for its strong Chinese language capabilities.

This year’s guide added a “Rising Stars” group in the offshore law firm category and Counsel Charlotte Yeung was the only lawyer to be recognised in this category. Benefiting from ‘extensive onshore and offshore experiences’, Charlotte provides ‘very commercial advice’ in relation to fund formation matters.

Asia Group Head and Partner Judy Lee continues to be recognised as a “Leading Individual” with Legal 500 describing her practice as “the engine room of the firm’s overall practice”. Banking & Finance Partner Fiona Chan maintained her position in the “Next Generation” category and was described as “client-oriented”.

Hong Kong Managing Partner Cameron Adderley commented “It is gratifying to see the teams’ contribution to clients’ businesses recognised and to receive their feedback. We pride ourselves on providing astute commercial advice in relation to the laws of Cayman, Bermuda and BVI. This year we celebrated our 30th anniversary in Hong Kong and I am proud of our sustained contribution to clients’ needs in Asia.”

Published annually, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific provides unbiased commentary and insight into the legal marketplaces of 20 Asia Pacific jurisdictions. The researchers carry out extensive research into each jurisdiction, canvassing law firms and contacting 250,000 clients for feedback on the lawyers they instruct.
