Mauritius
The Republic of Mauritius is experiencing dramatic growth. Since independence from Britain in 1968, Mauritius has diversified its economy with growing industrial, financial, and tourism sectors. For most of the period, annual growth has been in the order of 5% to 6%. With a population of 1.2m and a highly educated workforce, the government is successfully encouraging the introduction of external financial institutions to stimulate investment and diversify the economy.
