Yantee is a Senior Associate in the Corporate and Dispute Resolution practice groups in Appleby’s Mauritius office. She is a practising solicitor with 10-year PQE, specialising in commercial and corporate litigation with a focus on shareholder disputes, insolvency and restructuring, trust disputes, fund disputes and IT disputes.
Having been involved in international arbitration matters including enforcement, Yantee has redefined the practice with an arbitration dimension to arbitrating corporate disputes. In terms of advisory work, Yantee regularly advises on corporate and company law matters and employment disputes amongst others. Yantee is also actively involved in pro-bono work which includes mainly matrimonial and inheritance disputes.
Yantee was a State Scholar and read LLB with European Law at the University of Nottingham, UK and at “Université de Bretagne Occidentale”, France. She gained insightful experience during her placements at Clyde & Co.’s London and Paris offices before completing the Law Practitioners Examinations (Attorney’s Stream) in Mauritius in 2009. She was admitted to the role of solicitor in Mauritius in January 2011. She has recently qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales and will be admitted to the role of solicitor in England & Wales in the coming months.
Prior to joining Appleby, Yantee started her practising career at the reputable local law firm “Etude Guy Rivalland” where she practised in commercial litigation, corporate advisory work, insurance disputes and pro-bono work. She was an in-house solicitor and Group Head of Legal Services at Harel Mallac & Co Ltd, a listed conglomerate in Mauritius; advising the Board on corporate and transactional matters, corporate governance issues and overseeing legal support in a diversified sector of activities locally and in the African/Indian Ocean regions.
Yantee is a member of the Mauritius Law Society and the Mauritius Institute of Directors.
Yantee is fluent in English, French and Hindi.
