Yantee Hurnaurn-Calcutteea is a senior associate within the Dispute Resolution department in Mauritius, having joined Appleby in December 2016. She is a practising solicitor, specialising in litigation and dispute resolution on matters relating to civil, commercial, insolvency disputes and employment.
Yantee was awarded a fully funded scholarship by the Government of Mauritius for her nomination as State Scholar (Laureate – Economics Side). She read law at the University of Nottingham, UK and was an Erasmus student at “Université de Bretagne Occidentale”, France. She was an intern at the law firm, Clyde & Co, at its Paris and London offices and successfully completed the Law Practitioners Examinations (Attorney’s Stream) in Mauritius in 2009. She was admitted as a solicitor in Mauritius in January 2011.
Prior joining Appleby, Yantee started her career at Etude Guy Rivalland whereby she was involved in commercial litigation, advisory, corporate and pro bono work. Thereafter she acquired experience as an in house lawyer as Group Head of Legal Services at Harel Mallac & Co. Ltd, a public listed company in Mauritius as well as in private practice at Sewraj Solicitors.
Yantee is a member of the Mauritius Law Society and the Mauritius Institute of Directors.
Yantee is fluent in English, French and Hindi.
