Bio
Shari is an Associate within the Dispute Resolution Practice Group of Appleby’s Cayman Islands office, practising in a wide spectrum of commercial litigation, fund dispute and insolvency matters. Shari also provides key knowledge management support to Appleby on a global basis.
Prior to joining Appleby, Shari was a practising public sector attorney. She provided legal advice on the administration, interpretation and enforcement of Cayman Islands laws to ensure the lawfulness of decision-making, good governance and statutory and regulatory compliance. She was also involved in civil proceedings before statutory tribunals and a host of matters comprising novel legal issues before the Courts.
Shari was heavily involved in the Cayman Islands Government securing an extension to the Cayman Islands of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption and the 1999 International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism. The extension of these conventions to the Islands has placed the jurisdiction in a strong position as it demonstrates worldwide recognition of the national framework for countering corruption and terrorist financing.
Shari’s diverse background and established rapport across private and government organisations makes her a key member of the team at Appleby and of the Cayman Islands fraternity.
