Hasseena Mahamoodally is an associate within the Corporate and Commercial department in Mauritius. She is a practising barrister specialising in corporate and commercial matters.
Hasseena read law at the University of Mauritius and pursued the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) with BPP law school, UK. She undertook the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) at BPP University College, London. She was called to the English Bar (Non Practising) at the Honourable Society of Middle Temple on 27th November 2014 and was admitted as a Barrister in Mauritius on 22nd January 2016. She has also successfully completed the Civil and Commercial Mediation Course dispensed by the ADR Group, London. Hasseena is a part qualified ACCA student.
Prior to joining Appleby in April 2018, Hasseena was a member of 5 St James Court Chambers, Mauritius where she developed a mixed practice in civil, criminal, family, employment, corporate and commercial matters. In relation to her Dispute Resolution practice, she appeared before the Mauritian District courts, Intermediate Court and tribunals in minor criminal and civil cases. She also appeared as junior counsel in a series of cases before the Mauritian Supreme Court. She has acted for employers and has chaired disciplinary hearings held under the Employment Rights Act 2008. She acted as Tribunal secretary to the MCCI Mediation and Arbitration Centre (MARC) in a domestic arbitration matter. On corporate matters, her work consisted of advising financial institutions as well as drafting legal documents.
Hasseena is a member of the Mauritius Bar Association and the Honourable Society of Middle Temple, UK (non-practising).
She is a part time lecturer for the LLB programme at YK Business School, Mauritius (Partner Centre for the BPP Law School in Mauritius) and speaks fluent English and French.
