Appleby Bermuda to speak at the BDA Executive Forum in Miami

Appleby Bermuda will have three representatives speaking at the Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA) Executive Forum in Miami on 18 October. Partner Brad Adderley and Senior Associate Matthew Carr will be speaking on insurance industry panels. Eduardo Fox, Consultant - Corporate, Private Client & Trusts and Latin America, will be speaking on a LatAm panel. The Forum will feature 50 industry experts (across 13 panels) discussing the trends and opportunities in re/insurance, captive insurance, asset management, high-net-worth services, cyber risk and healthcare liability, plus fintech and digital assets industries.

Brad Adderley is a senior partner in Appleby’s corporate practice group and has been a member of the Bermuda Insurance team for 22 years. Brad has a market-leading reputation for his experience of being involved in numerous instrumental deals in the Bermuda insurance sector. He has a wide range of corporate and commercial legal expertise, particularly specialising in advising on insurance and reinsurance transactions, insurance-linked securities (ILS), structuring segregated accounts transactions, private and public offerings, NYSE registrations, and the formation and structure of life companies. Brad’s clients include Fortune 500 companies and global (listed and private) entities.

Brad will be participating in the panel entitled ‘Life & Annuity: Bermuda’s fastest growing risk-industry sector’. This panel will explore how Bermuda is the market-leading hub for life insurance and annuity products via consumer and reinsurance platforms. The panel will examine key factors driving this growth and how buyers of insurance and reinsurance can benefit.

Matthew Carr is a member of Appleby’s corporate practice group in Bermuda. Matthew advises clients on a wide range of corporate matters with a focus on insurance and reinsurance regulatory and transactional work including licensing of re/insurance companies, alternative risk financing vehicles (such as cat bonds and insurance-linked securities), segregated account structures, M&A and general corporate governance matters.

Matthew will be participating in the panel entitled ‘Bermuda Captive Insurance: Leading global risk innovation’. This panel will discuss why Bermuda became the global headquarters for self-insurance and how captive structures provided innovative ways to cover new and emerging risks.

Eduardo Fox is a consultant in Appleby’s Bermuda Corporate and Private Client & Trusts departments and a member of the firm’s global Latin America team. He is an economist and CPA. Eduardo also serves as Official Advisor for Latin American Affairs to both the Government of Bermuda and the Bermuda Insurance Management Association.

Eduardo will be participating on a panel entitled ‘BERMUDAS: DOMICILIO DE EXCELENCIA PARA COMPAÑIAS A NIVEL GLOBAL’ which will be conducted in Spanish. This panel will discuss why Bermuda is a domicile of excellence for Latin American and global-scale companies, providing unique solutions to first-rate companies and investors.
