The afternoon seminar, titled “Tempestuous Trusts”, will be held at Appleby for a second year following a well-received 2013 event that addressed risk factors affecting the trust industry.
This year’s seminar will feature returning overseas speakers Baker & McKenzie Partner Anthony Poulton, XXIV Old Buildings Barristers Elspeth Talbot Rice QC and Stephen Moverley Smith QC, and will also include local speakers STEP Bermuda Chairman Jonathan Dunlop, and Appleby Partners Keith Robinson and Vanessa Schrum.
Mr Robinson, Partner in Appleby’s Litigation & Insolvency department, commented: “After a positive response from last year’s seminar, we are excited to have a first class line up of speakers so that delegates can gain valuable insights to enhance their knowledge and network with peers. Bermuda remains a top jurisdiction for trusts and it is vital that our local industry remain abreast of current developments.”
Mr Moverley Smith QC also said: “After the success of last year’s event, we are delighted to have been invited back and we are looking forward to engaging in informed debate about Bermuda’s fast moving, proactive and important trust law.”
Delegates are expected to be mainly comprised of Bermuda’s trust professionals, lawyers, private bankers, investment brokers, accountants and family office managers.
Formal registration, with the full seminar agenda, will open for STEP Bermuda members in early October; non-STEP Bermuda members may visit the Events page at applebyglobal.com in October for more information.
