About the Isle of Man

The Isle of Man is a UK Crown Dependency located in the heart of the British Isles. As a jurisdiction, the Isle of Man has developed a reputation as a premier international finance centre in terms of innovation and regulation whilst retaining the delicate balance between providing a business-friendly environment and meeting international standards of financial supervision.

The island has a rich history dating back to before 6500 BC and has its own democratically elected Parliament called Tynwald, which dates back more than 1,000 years to be the world’s oldest continuous parliament.

The Crown Dependencies law firm

Appleby is the only international law firm with a presence in all three of the British Crown Dependencies – Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey. It means our Isle of Man lawyers have the ability to work closely with colleagues in Guernsey and Jersey to provide clients with a seamless and consistent pan-jurisdictional service from the same firm.

Our Crown Dependencies capability statements highlight the firm’s combined multi-jurisdictional offshore offering in further detail across our Corporate, Dispute Resolution, Regulatory, and Private Client & Trusts practice areas.
