Intellectual Property
Appleby’s Intellectual Property team is geared towards anticipating and meeting our clients' needs. We proactively manage each client's trade-mark and patent portfolio efficiently and cost-effectively. We undertake constant monitoring of pending matters, which enables us to provide our clients with regular status reports on any pending trade-mark or patent application. Clients also receive reminders prior to annual fees or renewals falling due.
In conjunction with our Commercial Litigation group, Appleby has substantial experience in taking action to protect against the infringement of IP rights and in the conduct of passing-off actions. We also offer investigative services to identify the source of, and distributors of, infringing goods, working closely with police and customs officials as necessary.
Appleby offers a full range of IP services in the UK, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Mauritius, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin islands and over 30 other Caribbean countries. In many of these Caribbean countries it is necessary to maintain a UK (or Community) registration upon which the local Caribbean registration is based. In order to service our clients' needs more efficiently, we offer a service address for our non-UK based clients and can obtain all the necessary documentation from the UK Patent Office for Caribbean applications.
We are members of INTA, AIPLA and ITMA.
