Naomi Rive is a partner and the Jersey Practice Group Head of Private Client & Trusts. She qualified as an English barrister in 1999, and re-qualified as a Jersey advocate in 2003, before joining Appleby in 2006.
Naomi was recently recognised as one of '50 Most Influential 2012' lawyers in the private client field by Private Client Practitioner magazine. The leading publication also currently rates her as one of the 'Top 35 Under 35' lawyers in her field.
Naomi Rive provides contentious and non-contentious legal services to high net worth individuals, international private banks and trust companies. Naomi advises on all aspects of the Trusts (Jersey) Law 1984 and the Foundations (Jersey) Law 2009, including the establishment, restructuring and winding-up of private, charitable, purpose and commercial trusts and foundations. She also advises in connection with applications for directions to the Royal Court and frequently represents trustees, beneficiaries and protectors of Jersey law trusts.
Naomi’s growing reputation in the field of private client work has not gone unnoticed. She was described as someone who 'understands the individuals and issues in her marketplace' in Legal 500 UK 2011 edition. Legal 500 2010 described Naomi as 'Quick thinking and clever – really very, very good', and Chambers and Partners said that she was '… definitely one to watch due to her technical nous and marketing abilities'. Naomi was named as a 'Leader in her Field' by Chambers UK 2012. She was also named as a ‘Leader in her Field’ by Chambers Europe 2011 and 2010. She was recognised in the Citywealth 'Leaders List' in 2011 and 2012, this annual list aims to highlight the best of those individuals working in the wealth management sector. She was also recommended for private client work by PLC Which Lawyer? 2009. Naomi has also been recognised as one of the top 35 private client professionals under 35 by Private Client Practitioner magazine in 2009, 2010 and 2011. She has been recognised as one of Private Client Practitioner's 50 most influential for 2011 and 2012.
As well as providing legal advice to a growing number of well-known financial institutions and an increasingly international client base, Naomi is a member of the International Bar Association and Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. She is a member of the STEP Jersey Branch Committee and sits on the Trusts Law Working Party. She regularly speaks at trust conferences, including the annual Transcontinental Trusts Conference and the IBA Wealth Transfer Practices Conference. She has also written chapters for a number of publications, including Private Client Tax and Private Client Practitioner, and is on the editorial board of the STEP Directory and Yearbook.
