Matthew Feargrieve leads the Funds and Investment Services practice in the London and Zurich offices of Appleby, specialising in the formation and operation of offshore hedge funds, private equity funds and management companies. He is also a member of the firm’s Corporate and Commercial group, and provides advice on a wide range of offshore corporate, financial and commercial legal matters.

Matthew's practice has a dedicated focus on fund managers, their clients and their service providers. He advises on the legal and regulatory treatment of investment funds and management companies established in the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Jersey, Guernsey and Mauritius. He also advises institutional and private clients throughout Europe on funds matters.

Matthew began his career as a Barrister, and later qualified as a Solicitor in the United Kingdom. He has worked for UK and US law firms and Goldman Sachs. Matthew is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, a Cayman Islands attorney-at-law and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Eastern Caribbean. He graduated with an MA in law from the University of Oxford in 1997.
