Gavin Ferguson is the Managing Partner of the Guernsey office and practises in the Private Client & Trusts department. Gavin provides contentious and non-contentious trust services to high net worth individuals, corporate clients and charities. He advises on all aspects of trust law, including the creation, reorganisation and administration of trusts. He also advises on regulatory matters and has an interest in the Sharia and Sharia compliant trust structures.
Gavin was named as a 'Leader in his Field' by Chambers UK 2012. He was also named as a ‘Leader in his Field’ by Chambers Europe 2011 and 2010. Gavin was described by Legal 500 2011 as having ‘extensive knowledge of trust law' and being an 'outstanding communicator’. He has also been recognised as one of the top 35 private client practitioners under 35 by Private Client Practitioner magazine in 2010 and 2011. He was also recognised in the 2011 and 2012 Citywealth 'Leaders List'. This annual list aims to highlight the best of those individuals working in the wealth management sector.
He regularly contributes to various publications as well as presenting at conferences, seminars and to clients.
Gavin studied his Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, London. Prior to this, he studied for an MA in Legal Studies and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law. He also holds a degree in Business Economics and the Islamic Finance Qualification.
He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, the International Tax Planning Association, the Guernsey International Legal Association, the Guernsey Association of Trustees and a chartered member of the Securities Institute. He is also Guernsey's representative of ISFIN, the leading network of Islamic finance law specialists.
