Christopher Cope is a partner in the Litigation & Insolvency department, specialising in trust litigation, public law, and fraud and asset recovery. Prior to joining the firm Christopher practised as a barrister for 10 years. In 2001 he relocated to the Isle of Man and joined the firm. He was appointed as a partner in 2004. 

Christopher was named as a 'Leader in his Field' by Chambers UK 2012. He was also named as a ‘Leader in his Field’ by Chambers Europe 2011 and 2010. In Chambers 2009 he is particularly commended for having 'a sound knowledge of both UK and Isle of Man Trusts'. He is ranked as a highly recommended individual in PLC Which Lawyer? 2009 and is described as a 'well-respected advocate with particular expertise in trusts and professional negligence'. Legal 500 describes him as a 'very good advocate'. 

He has spoken at various conferences, including the C5 conference on fraud asset tracing and recovery.

  • Roys Poyiadjis in the Aremisoft litigation regarding an alleged US$230m NASDAQ fraud


  • KPMG, auditors of the Manx Electricity Authority, in litigation concerning the legality of US£120m in loans


  • The United States Securities and Exchange Commission in executing letters rogatory


  • The Australian Securities and Investments Commission in relation to letters of request


  • Numerous local and international companies and individuals on many trust, insolvency and banking related matters


  • Most recently a number of Isle of Man Companies in the complex multi-jurisdictional litigation concerning the Kyrgyz Mobile Telecommunications Company Bitel LLC, which matter is currently before the Privy Council
