Robert Woods is the Director of Compliance for the Appleby group. He is responsible for overseeing, establishing, maintaining and reviewing anti-money-laundering policies, procedures, guidelines and programmes for ensuring compliance at a group level.

He is also directly responsible for managing compliance in Bahrain, London, Mauritius, Seychelles and Zurich.

With over twenty years of experience in law enforcement and compliance, Robert has evaluated the anti-money-laundering procedures, and systems for combating the financing of terrorism, of countries in the Caribbean region, using the latest assessment frameworks for judging a country's compliance with internationally accepted benchmarks.

Robert was a supervisor in the Financial Reporting Authority for several years prior to becoming the compliance manager for a multi-jurisdictional offshore bank based in the Cayman Islands. He moved to Appleby at the start of 2006 as Manager of Compliance for offices in the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong, before being promoted to Director of Compliance in late 2007.

He has served on the executive committee of the Cayman Islands Compliance Association and has presented to a wide range of audiences in various jurisdictions on a series of compliance-related issues.

Originally from Liverpool, England, Robert is a certified anti-money-laundering specialist, an accredited financial investigator and has received diplomas in both anti-money-laundering and compliance from the International Compliance Association.
