Advocate Jeremy Heywood is an associate within the Litigation & Insolvency department of Appleby's Jersey office. He joined Appleby as a legal assistant in early 2008 and became an associate in late 2010.  Jeremy is principally involved in property, professional negligence, trust and general commercial litigation.

Jeremy is a member of the Inner Temple and speaks fluent French.

Recent cases with which Jeremy has been involved include:

  • Reg's Skips Limited v Yates; Jeremy assisted Advocate Michael O'Connell in the successful preparation of the defence of the appeal of this voisinage dispute before the Court of Appeal of Jersey, which further explored and defined the extent of voisinage and nuisance in Jersey law

  • Cole v Chief Officer of the States of Jersey Police; Jeremy assisted Advocate David Benest in the successful defence of this matter before the Royal Court of Jersey, which set the scope of the tort of misuse of private information in Jersey, and established that an offer to settle need not be fortified by a payment in to give costs protection to a defendant in certain circumstances

  • Chartier v Jersey Post; Jeremy assisted Advocate David Benest in the successful defence of this complex negligence action before the Royal Court of Jersey
