Advocate Davida Blackmore is an associate in the Litigation & Insolvency department at Appleby in Jersey. Previously the group's Information Officer, she joined Appleby in 2005 before being promoted to the position of legal assistant in 2006.

She is principally involved, and has particular expertise, in clinical negligence, personal injury and data-protection litigation. In addition, Davida also assists others within the group on a wide variety of matters, including criminal defence (appearing in both the Magistrate's and the Royal Court on behalf of the defendant), general commercial litigation and trust disputes.

Davida is a regular contributor to the Dispute Resolution Review and has also contributed to the PLC Q&A on Dispute Resolution. 

She is a member of the Law Society of Jersey and the Jersey Personal Injury & Medicolegal Society (JPIMS).

Recent highlights have included advising and assisting:

  • The petitioner (wife) in the high-profile and long-running divorce case O'Brien v. Marett & Ors, which involved the dissipation and tracing of matrimonial assets, freezing orders and applications to both the Court of Appeal and Privy Council

  • The Data Protection Commissioner for Jersey

  • The Deputy Chief Officer of the States of Jersey Police

  • The Medical Defence Union in relation to a number of clinical negligence claims

  • The Intervener in the matter of Cooke v. Mold in relation to the enforceability of referential bids
