Clive Langley is a Senior Associate and a member of the Banking & Asset Finance team within the Corporate & Commercial department. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for the international law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges in their London and Silicon Valley offices. 

Clive has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law as well as international finance. He has particular expertise in advising on and structuring asset-financed transactions, predominantly in relation to the aviation and shipping sectors, and frequently advises investment and commercial banks, export credit agencies, leasing companies, airlines and shipping companies.

Clive is a regular speaker for Business Bermuda, including having served as a shipping and aviation panelist at the Harvard Club, New York. He was interviewed for Business Bermuda and published an article for Business Bermuda Nexus on the Bermuda ship and aircraft registries. He featured in Offshore Insights, having written on the subject of the Bermuda register of aircraft and the emerging Russian market.  Clive co-authored the chapters on ‘Ship Mortgages’ and ‘Registering the Ship’ in Euromoney Books third edition on Shipping Finance. He has also written articles for Legal Week, Financial Regulation International and Business Bermuda Nexus in respect of The Companies Amendment (No. 2) Act 2011.

Clive is a member of the Bermuda Bar Association.

  • European ECAs in relation to the financing of multiple Airbus aircraft
  • British Airways in connection with the export credit financing from Banco Economides for the fleet replacement and delivery of 11 Embraer E170 and E190 aircraft for British Airways City flyer
  • A Norwegian bank in connection with the amendment of a US$1.2 billion facility made available to a Bermuda-domiciled shipping company
  • An investor in connection with a joint venture with a major Bermuda shipping group
  • The European-based shipping company Dockwise Limited:
    -on the buyout of the company from its initial investors
    -on the acquisition of two operational ventures in the USA
    -on a US$100 million private placement
    -in relation to a dual listing on the Oslo Bors and the NYSE Euronext Exchange in Amsterdam
  • The US-based shipping company Arlington Tankers Limited on its merger and amalgamation with General Maritime Corporation and listing on the New York Stock Exchange
