Christian is an associate and a member of the Corporate & Commercial department. Prior to joining Appleby in 2009, he worked with William Fry Solicitors in Dublin for eight years and was an associate in the asset management and investment funds department there. Christian was based in Appleby’s BVI office prior to joining the Cayman Islands office in 2010.

He specialises in funds and investment services, including the formation, establishment and listing of mutual funds and hedge funds, and the formation of stand-alone vehicles, including segregated portfolio companies and limited partnerships. He also has experience in banking and finance, general lending, debt issuance and general aspects of banking and finance and corporate and commercial law.

Christian is a member of the Law Society of Ireland and the Law Society of England and Wales.

  • A US/UK-based promoter on the admission of the shares of its Cayman-domiciled hedge fund to the Irish Stock Exchange


  • A US/UK-based promoter on the conversion of its Irish-domiciled fund of hedge funds into a feeder fund for a Cayman master fund and ongoing advice in relation to the hedge fund's investment objectives and policies, performance fee methodologies, distributions, appointment of prime brokers (including the negotiation of prime brokerage agreements) and related issues (including broker and counterparty exposure and custody arrangements), material contracts, the establishment of new sub-funds and share classes (including 130/30 long/short strategies), change of service providers/functionaries (custodian and administrator), stock exchange listing applications and ongoing stock exchange listing requirements


  • An established UK-based promoter on the update of its Dublin-domiciled UCITS product range to reflect legislative and regulatory updates, including enhanced investment opportunities under the UCITS III Product Directive, the rationalisation and consolidation of a number of funds of the promoter’s Dublin-domiciled UCITS product range, the ongoing authorisation and appointment of securities managers to the promoter’s multi-manager suite of funds and ongoing compliance with the registration requirements of the Financial Regulator in relation to Luxembourg-domiciled funds marketing shares in Ireland
