Paul Morris has a wealth of experience in virtually all forms of litigation before the Courts & Tribunals of the Isle of Man, appearing in many of the high-profile and ground-breaking cases before the courts over the last 30 years. His wide-ranging practice incorporates asset tracing, trust litigation, judicial reviews and ADR, such as mediation and arbitration.

He was named as a 'Leader in his Field' by Chambers UK 2012 and Chambers Global 2012 elevated Paul to the level of senior statesman. He was also named as a ‘Leader in his Field’ by Chambers Europe 2011 and 2010. He is recommended in Chambers Global on the basis that 'in terms of output, he remains an active presence on the Isle of Man litigation scene. Observers are keen to praise his courtroom prowess: He is extremely clever, never takes back his points and plays a hard, fair fight'. Legal 500 commends Paul Morris as being 'very experienced and hands on in court'. Having qualified as an advocate in 1981, Paul joined the firm in 1999 as a partner. He is Chairman of the Interception of Communications Tribunal. He also sits on the Financial Services Review Committee and is a member of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Panel. Paul is past President of the Isle of Man Law Society and a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).

Recent examples of litigation work include acting and/or appearing for:
  • The Governments of Pakistan and Nigeria in their respective actions before the Isle of Man High Court seeking restitution of assets allegedly representing the proceeds of corruption by former politicians of each country


  • The largest group of creditors, including Clerical Medical, Royal Skandia, Norwich Union and AXA, following the collapse and eventual liquidation of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander


  • The Chief Minister of the Isle of Man and the Isle of Man Treasury in an application for judicial review by a former police officer arising out of telecommunications interception


  • A regional airline in an application to the Isle of Man Court for the recognition of an order for the appointment of an examiner by the Irish High Court to secure temporary protection from creditors
