The winning deal was the MITSU & CO – TPV TECHNOLOGY TAKEOVER BID, handled by Appleby lawyers Frances Woo, Tan Li Lee and Vincent Chan. Appleby acted as Bermuda Counsel for TPV, the largest global manufacturer of PC monitors and one of the world´s largest global producers of LCD televisions.Winning deals were picked based on size, complexity and innovation, with the final choices being selected based on in-house research and a panel of unbiased judges.
The 2010 awards were held on 10 September 2010 and recognise the excellence and outstanding achievements of Hong Kong´s leading law firms and in-house legal teams. The awards are part of an international series ogranised annually by ALB and have attracted 450 of Hong Kong´s most influential solicitors, in-house counsel, investment bankers, judiciary and CEOs.
Commenting on the award, Frances Woo, Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office said: "This deal saw three complex elements - a PIPE investment, a block trade in Philips NV by one of TPV´s existing shareholders and a mandatory takeover offer in Hong Kong implemented by consortium.
