Event Description
Partners from Appleby´s global network of offices attended the official launch of the Guernsey office on 13 May at the Old Government House Hotel in St Peter Port, Guernsey. The launch event, attended by over 150 partners and guests and led by Jersey partner and chairman of the executive board John Bisson, provided an opportunity for the group to present an expert insight into various world markets to an audience of Guernsey finance professionals, intermediaries and politicians.Jeanne Bartlett, from Bahrain, talked about the Middle East, Malcolm Moller from Mauritius spoke on India and Africa, Nick Verardi from the Isle of Man spoke about Russia, London’s Warren Cabral talked about Latin America, while Frances Woo from the Hong Kong office and Bermuda’s Shaun Morris spoke on the Far East and North America, respectively. All briefly explained what opportunities could exist for Guernsey businesses in each of those markets with Guernsey’s speciality in the captive insurance sector picked out as a definite strength, as was its stable government.
Appleby´s Guernsey office comprises group partners Barney Lee and Helen Crossley, specialising in corporate and commercial law, litigation partner Jeremy Le Tissier and private client and trust partner Gavin Ferguson. Group partner David Clark is acting as managing director of the office, following his relocation from Appleby´s London office.
