Legal Education Scholarship

The Appleby Scholarship programme was established in 2008 in Mauritius. The programme provides funding for Mauritians intending to remain in Mauritius to practice law. The awards are made for study at the University of Mauritius. The scholarship covers all tuition related expenses and payment of a monthly allowance.

  1. This Scholarship Award is for the duration of the degree and professional practice courses.
  2. The applicant must have secured a seat to read for the LL.B. (Hons) programme at the University of Mauritius for the upcoming academic year, commencing in September of the year.
  3. Applicants must plan to be qualified as a law practitioner in Mauritius and intend to practice in Mauritius upon qualifying, and potentially securing employment with Appleby and overseas training within the offices of the Appleby Group.
  4. Recipients cannot have been awarded any other scholarship or bursary awards.
  5. Supporting documentation required includes: two recent passport-size photographs of applicant, two character references, two academic references, official copies of transcripts, proof of nationality or residence status, proof of acceptance at the University of Mauritius, completed application form and resume of work history with references. Please include the above documents under a separate cover in person marked for the attention of Malcolm Moller.
  6. The application deadline is 31 October in each year.
