Appleby has been title sponsor and committed partner to the Bermuda Football Association for the past eight years.
In 2009-10, the BFA renamed their youth league the "Appleby Youth League" in recognition of our support of youth football in Bermuda. We also sponsor the newly introduced coaching qualification and licensing programme.
The BFA, in partnership with Appleby, is in the process of restructuring and developing the game in Bermuda. Specifically, the BFA has made it their goal to improve sportsmanship through the Appleby Youth League, as well as by instilling the values and spirit of fairness in players from a young age, on and off the field.
To accomplish this, the BFA has established the Appleby sponsored Coaching Licensing system, which endeavours to establish consistency in coaching and regulations for ensuring fair play.
The BFA has also established a set of rules and regulations governing the conduct of players and spectators, specifically outlining their zero-tolerance stance on drug/alcohol use and poor sportsmanship.
Richard Calderon, BFA President, says of the restructuring and partnership with Appleby, “The BFA is striving to enhance the competitiveness of the game in Bermuda. One of the pillars identified in the strategic plan is on developing the youth game. We are humbled and grateful to our strategic partners who have provided assistance, Appleby has been instrumental in supporting the BFA Youth development programmes by sponsoring the Youth League. The BFA and Appleby have had a long standing relationship and we are indebted to them for their patronage.”
